Job summary

Optima Living is hiring a Health Care Aide in Alberta to support residents with daily living activities, mobility, meals, and personal care. You will work under the direction of nursing staff, perform routine assessments, document observations, and ensure comfort, dignity, and safety for residents in a person-centered care environment.

The role requires completion of a recognized HCA program, CLHA registration, and current CPR/First Aid certification.

Qualifications

• Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide program.
• Current registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
• Experience in residential care or mental health is an asset.
• Medication Administration course and annual recertification required.
• Food Safe certification is an asset.
• Active CPR and First Aid certification.
• Ability to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Support the care team to meet residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
• Assist with move ins/outs, palliative care, and end-of-life care with dignity.
• Support development of resident care or service plans.
• Document observations and interventions accurately; report changes promptly.
• Respond to call bells and resident requests in a timely manner.
• Assist with dining duties and ensure proper nutrition and hydration.
• Assist residents with mobility, transfers, and positioning.
• Support participation in recreation and social activities as needed.
• Maintain infection control and safety standards; uphold confidentiality.
