Job summary

Optima Living in Canada is seeking a Health Care Aide to support residents in daily living activities and care planning under nursing leadership. You will assist with mobility, meals, hygiene, and social engagement, while maintaining safety and dignity in a person-centered environment.

The role emphasizes teamwork with care professionals, adherence to health regulations, and ongoing orientation and mandatory training to ensure high-quality resident care.

Qualifications

• Completion of a Health Care Aide program.
• Current registration with CLHA.
• Experience in residential care or mental health is an asset.
• Medication Administration course and annual recertification required.
• Food Safe certification is an asset.
• CPR and First Aid certification.
• Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
• Strong written communication skills.
• Organize, prioritize and problem solve.
• Work independently and with others.
• Operate equipment safely.
• Computer literacy skills required.
• Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.

Responsibilities

• Supports the care team to meet residents' physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs.
• Assists with move ins/outs, palliative care, end of life with dignity.
• Helps develop and document resident personal care or service plans.
• Performs resident care, documents observations and reports changes promptly.
• Responds to call bells and resident requests promptly.
• Replenishes supplies in rooms and care areas.
• Assists with resident laundry and light housekeeping.
• Ensures proper nutrition and hydration per dietary plan.
• Assists with dining duties and meal support.
• Maintains infection control and safety procedures.
• Communicates resident needs to families and team.
• Participates in team meetings and quality improvement ideas.
