Job summary

Optima Living is seeking a Health Care Aide to assist residents with daily living activities in a senior living setting. You will support the care team in providing comprehensive care aligned with residents' physical, emotional, and cultural needs, maintaining dignity and independence.

The role requires completion of a Health Care Aide program, active CPR/First Aid, and CLHA registration, with flexibility to work different shifts in an on-site environment in Alberta.

Qualifications

  • Completion of a recognized Health Care Aide program.
  • Maintains a current registration with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA).
  • Medication Administration internal course and annual recertification required.
  • CPR and First Aid certification active.
  • Food Safe certification is an asset.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Strong written communication and ability to present professional documents clearly.
  • Flexibility to work a variety of shifts.
  • Physical and mental ability to carry out duties and comply with health regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Support the care team to meet the physical, emotional, social, and spiritual needs of residents.
  • Assist with move ins/outs, palliative care, end of life and related duties with dignity.
  • Develop and support resident care or service plans.
  • Document observations and interventions and report changes to the Director of Care.
  • Respond to call bells and resident requests promptly.
  • Assist with dining duties and meal assistance.
  • Support mobility, transfers, and positioning; ensure safe equipment use.
  • Provide participation in activities and one-on-one recreation as needed.
  • Maintain infection control practices and confidentiality of resident information.
  • Complete orientation and mandatory education; support new team members.
