Job summary

Affirm seeks a senior backend engineer to own the design, development and delivery of scalable data-driven services. You will lead engineers, collaborate with product, design and analytics, and drive reliable, high-availability systems across our data platform.

You will work in a remote-first environment across Canada, shaping architecture for money and loan-processing workloads while maintaining high code quality and strong ownership. Equity and benefits are part of compensation.

Qualifications

• 4+ years designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with highly available distributed systems (AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Proven ability to plan delivery of major features with simple, extensible design.
• Strong ownership, code quality, and collaboration across teams.

Responsibilities

• Own quarterly goals and lead engineers to deliver them.
• Collaborate with product, design and analytics across the lifecycle.
• Identify and solve project, process, tech, or business issues.
• Monitor metrics and support on-call availability of artifacts.
• Set and promote code review and design standards.
