Affim seeks a Senior Software Engineer, Backend (Lakehouse Infra) to own backend systems at scale for data infrastructure across OLTP and OLAP. You will design, build and operate reliable, high-availability services in a remote Canada setting, collaborating with product, design and analytics teams.

You’ll lead by example, set quality standards, and mentor teammates while contributing to a remote-first, equity-conscious culture with strong focus on reliability and performance.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale.
• Experience with Python or Kotlin in production
• Experience with AWS, MySQL and Kubernetes in distributed systems
• Experience scaling Iceberg, Flink, Airflow, Spark, Kafka, Snowflake and Terraform
• Ability to define a technical plan for major feature delivery with simple, extensible design
• Proven history of safe, large-scale code changes and tooling
• Strong written and verbal communication to collaborate globally
• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience
