Location: Richmond Hill, Ontario, Canada; Etobicoke, Ontario, Canada. Salary: CA$60,000.00 – CA$70,000.00.
Responsibilities
- In collaboration with team, ensure that all monthly, quarterly, annual financial statements and related schedules/analysis are produced in a timely fashion in compliance with SOX, GAAP, and corporate policies.
- Participate in full cycle month-end activities (including general accounting records and GL maintenance) in accordance with company policies and procedures.
- Prepare other financial reports and analytical work such as intercompany balance reconciliation, monthly accruals, journal entry logs, and spreadsheet SOX control log.
- Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and the Hard Close Binder timely and accurately.
- Prepare financial statements and analyses, e.g., Management Estimates, EBITDA Bridge, and ART, timely and accurately.
- Assist with preparation of AFE, including development of payback financial calculations. Review AFEs for compliance, financial integrity, and accuracy, and supervise the tracking of AFEs through the approval process.
- Prepare a variety of reports periodically or as requested.
- Assess the need for new or changed controls and assist in implementing adequate internal controls across the organization.
- Maintain proper documentation of all local procedures and internal controls to be followed during the monthly close process.
- Share best practices with other team members and serve as a back-up when colleagues are on vacation or absent.
- Strive for continuous improvement of procedures and processes pertaining to the monthly accounting close.
- Prepare and submit the monthly STATs for Canada and manufacturing surveys.
- Perform additional ad hoc analyses and reporting as requested; perform other duties and analyses as assigned by Manager.
Education & Experience
- Bachelor Degree in Accounting or Finance.
- Minimum of 5 years of previous accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- A formal Accounting designation (CPA).
- Self-motivated and result oriented.
- Strong analytical skills including financial analysis, key trends analysis and business case analysis.
- A self-starter who is positive, energetic, innovative and takes initiative.
- Experience with ERP systems, preferably JD Edwards.
- Sound planning and organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple concurrent assignments.
- Strong understanding of costing, variance analysis, absorption and multi-currency.
- Demonstrated ability to work in an open group environment and interact with cross-functional management teams.
