Job summary

Paladin Security is hiring a Security Guard for Sick Kids Hospital for Children in Toronto. The role entails maintaining a safe and welcoming environment, patrolling hospital facilities, assisting with wayfinding, and monitoring security systems.

Qualifications

• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (WSIB-approved).
• Proof of two doses of COVID-19 vaccine.
• Immunization records for mumps, measles, rubella, varicella, and a two-step TB skin test completed.
• Clean-shaven face to meet N95 mask fit test requirements.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe, secure environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors.
• Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings, heliports, parking areas, tunnels, and grounds.
• Provide professional customer service, including wayfinding and general assistance.
• Monitor CCTV, access control systems, alarms, and visitor screening points.
• Respond to medical emergencies, fire alarms, and codes (Code White, Code Silver, etc.).
• Monitor heliport access and follow landing/takeoff procedures.
• Investigate and document security incidents, accidents, thefts, and property damage.
• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support with a compassionate approach.
• Support clinical staff with high-risk patient monitoring, patient watches, and safety escorts.
• Maintain accurate activity logs and incident reports.

What You'll Be Doing

• Maintain a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patients, families, staff, and visitors.
• Conduct regular patrols of hospital buildings, heliports, parking areas, tunnels, and grounds.

• Provide crisis intervention and de-escalation support using a compassionate, family-centered approach.
• Support clinical staff with high-risk patient monitoring, patient watches, and safety escorts while respecting patient privacy.
• Maintain accurate activity logs, incident reports, and occurrence documentation.

Must Haves

• Valid First Aid & CPR – Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor).
• Proof of two (2) doses of a COVID-19 vaccine.
• Immunization records for mumps, measles, rubella, varicella, and a completed two-step TB skin test.
• Clean-shaven face to meet N95 mask fit test requirements.
• Legal authorization to work in Canada.

Nice-to-Haves

• Current certification in Use of Force (UOF).
• Current certification in Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB).

Applicants without UOF or MOAB certifications can enroll in Paladin's certification program prior to onboarding. Certification costs are covered by Paladin with a 6-month commitment.
