Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Security Supervisor at The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto. The role oversees daily security operations, guides guards, and coordinates with hospital leadership and local emergency services to maintain a safe environment.

You will respond to emergencies, de‑escalate conflicts, and ensure compliance with hospital protocols. Qualified applicants must have WSIB First Aid & CPR Level C, supervisory experience, and eligibility to work in Canada.

Qualifications

• Valid WSIB-approved First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Previous security supervisory experience.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and site background screening.
• Valid immunisation record meeting hospital requirements (MMR, Varicella, TB test, COVID‑19 vaccination if required).

Site Overview

The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) is a world-renowned paediatric healthcare centre dedicated to improving children's health through care, research, and education. Security team members at SickKids help maintain a safe, peaceful, and welcoming environment for young patients, families, healthcare professionals, and visitors.

What You'll Be Doing

As a Security Supervisor, you will oversee daily site security operations, support and guide shift personnel, and act as a key liaison between security staff, hospital leadership, and local emergency services.

• Provide leadership, coaching, shift scheduling, and operational guidance to assigned security guards.
• Manage daily shift operations, including briefings, attendance, routine patrols, security audits, and task assignments.
• Maintain a visible security presence across patient care units, emergency departments, entrances, and common areas.
• Respond to hospital emergency codes, medical calls, fire alarms, and security incidents in a calm and efficient manner.
• Apply verbal de‑escalation and conflict resolution techniques to support patients, families, visitors, and staff during challenging situations.
• Investigate, document, and report safety incidents, complaints, and operational updates in shift logs and detailed reports.
• Support safety planning and risk assessments for sensitive scenarios, including missing patient protocols and access management.
• Address team performance, provide constructive feedback, and ensure compliance with site protocols and company policies.

Must Haves

• Valid WSIB‑approved First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
• Previous security supervisory experience.
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.
• Ability to complete a Vulnerable Sector Check and site‑required background screening.
• Valid immunisation record meeting hospital requirements (MMR, Varicella, 2‑step TB Skin Test, and proof of COVID‑19 vaccination if required by site policy).

Nice‑to‑Haves

• Previous security experience in a hospital, healthcare, or high‑volume public environment.
• Demonstrated experience in incident response and verbal de‑escalation under pressure.
