Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a Full-Time Security Guard for Markham Stouffville Hospital. The role involves patrolling hospital premises, monitoring entrances, and assisting visitors and staff while maintaining safety and patient care standards.

The ideal candidate will hold a valid Ontario Security Guard Licence, have fluent English, and possess at least 1 year of security experience. Training and certification support are available, with multiple shifts and benefits offered.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises and monitor entry points to ensure safety.

• Respond quickly to emergencies and assist staff during crises and evacuations.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, and staff; provide directions and ensure policy adherence.
• Document incidents and complete reports on breaches and security concerns.

Site Overview: Markham Stouffville Hospital is a busy community hospital providing acute care, emergency, and specialized healthcare services. Security Guards play a key role in maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, staff, and hospital assets while delivering exceptional customer service and responding to emergencies.

Position: Full-Time Security Guard

Payrate: $19.38 - $21.80/hr "based on levelling system"

Averaging Agreement: Overtime is (AA) after 88 hours

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
• Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid 19 two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• One year experience in security, or law enforcement is an asset
• Able to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testing
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability

Certification Requirements (All)

First Aid and CPR - Level C Certification
Minimum of 1 year security experience
