Job summary

Paladin Security seeks a Security Guard for North York General Hospital Finch in Toronto. The role involves patrolling hospital premises, monitoring access, and protecting patients, staff, and visitors.

The position requires an Ontario security license and fluency in English, with a willingness to obtain MOAB/UOF certifications if needed. Work involves all shifts and overtime after 88 hours, with daily pay options available.

Qualifications

• Valid Security License for Ontario.
• English (oral and written) fluency required.
• One year experience in security or law enforcement is an asset.
• Able to be clean-shaven for N95 mask fit testing.
• Legally authorized to work in Canada.
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services is an asset.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB are assets; training can be provided pre-onboarding.

Responsibilities

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances and exits.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems and report suspicious activity.
• Monitor and control hospital entry points to restrict unauthorized access.
• Respond quickly in emergencies (medical, fire alarms, security threats) and assist staff during crises.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients and staff; provide directions and enforce policies.
• De-escalate tense situations and resolve conflicts professionally.
• Document daily activities and incident reports; file reports on breaches and concerns.
• Coordinate with hospital staff and local law enforcement for a unified security effort.

Overtime: Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

Pay Rate: $19.10/hr.

Key responsibilities:

• Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site.
• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Assist hospital staff as needed during crises and evacuations.
• Greeting and assisting visitors, patients, and hospital staff. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures.
• De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately. Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns.
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved.
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.
• Address any violations in a manner that upholds hospital safety standards

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• One year experience in security, or law enforcement is an asset
• Able to be clean-shave for N95 mask fit testing
• Legally authorized to work in Canada
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

Please be aware: The UOF/MOAB certification is not paid as it is a pre-employment requisite; however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
