Job summary

Paladin Security is seeking a dedicated Security Guard to cover multiple sites across the Greater Toronto Area, including healthcare facilities. You will ensure patient safety, monitor access, and respond to emergencies while providing excellent customer service to staff and visitors.

Required are a Ontario security license, First Aid/CPR, and immunization records; UOF/MOAB certifications are a plus. Onboarding includes training with opportunities for growth and a competitive compensation

Qualifications

• Valid Ontario Security License or equivalent.
• First Aid & CPR - Level C required.
• Immunization records for MMR Varicella and TB test.
• English (oral and written) fluency required.
• Driver license (G) is preferred.
• Experience in security or related field preferred.
• Certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and MOAB preferred.
• Training available pre-onboarding if needed (non-paid).

Responsibilities

• Provide patient watch and observation across hospital settings.
• Patrol hospital grounds including parking areas and entrances.
• Monitor cameras and alarms; report suspicious activity.
• Control access to restricted areas; verify authorization.
• Respond quickly to medical or safety emergencies.
• Greet and assist visitors, patients, staff with professionalism.
• De-escalate conflicts and document incidents accurately.
• Prepare clear daily activity and incident reports.
• Enforce hospital policies for visitors and patients.

Position Description: As a Security Guard, you may be assigned to work across a variety of sites throughout the Toronto region, including healthcare, commercial/retail, and post-secondary environments. Please note that at our healthcare sites, we require up-to-date immunization records. If you do not currently have these records, Paladin Security will support you through the process during the hiring and onboarding stages.

Key responsibilities:

• Patient Watch and Observation: Provide continuous observation of patients identified as requiring supervision due to medical, behavioral, or safety concerns. Maintain a safe environment, monitor patient activity, and promptly report any changes in behavior or condition to hospital staff.
• Patrol Hospital Grounds: Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits
• Monitor Surveillance Systems: Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas.
• Respond to Emergencies: Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats.
• Provide Customer Service: Greet and assist visitors, patients, and hospital staff.
• Conflict Resolution: De-escalate tense situations, resolve conflicts, and ensure that all interactions are handled calmly and professionally.
• Report Writing: Document daily activities, incidents, or accidents accurately.
• Enforce Hospital Policies: Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed.

Prerequisites:

• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Valid First Aid & CPR - Level C (from a WSIB-approved vendor)
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella and two step TB skin test
• Valid G class Driver License
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Previous experience in security, law enforcement, or a related field preferred.
• Must be able to provide certifications in Use of Force (UOF) and Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB)
• Applicants lacking these certifications can opt into Paladin's UoF/MOAB training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position
• Please be aware: The UoF/MOAB training is not paid as it is a pre-requisite; however, Paladin will cover all of the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
