Job summary

Commissionaires Great Lakes in Canada is seeking a dedicated Commissionaire to join our team at CFB Borden. You will perform patrols, assist with site access, and uphold high standards of appearance and professionalism.

Ideal candidates hold an Ontario Security Guard License, First Aid/CPR, and the ability to obtain Secret Security Clearance; strong English skills, a customer‑service mindset, and endurance for long patrols are essential.

Qualifications

• Ontario Security Guard License is required.
• Valid First Aid and CPR certificate required.
• Must be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance (Canadian resident ≥10 years, clean record).
• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods.
• Ability to complete frequent patrols.
• Fluent English; French knowledge is an asset.
• Able to work with little supervision and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities

• Conduct patrols in military barracks and check for maintenance issues.
• Assist with In and Out processing of military members.
• Act as Fire Warden on site.
• Ensure all rooms are move-in ready and paperwork is completed as directed.
• Maintain high standards of personal appearance and deportment.
• Perform other duties as required by the client.

INTRODUCTION

Commissionaires Great Lakes (CGL) is a private, not-for-profit organization founded in 1925 on a mandate that prioritizes providing meaningful employment for veterans and others committed to the well being of Canadians primarily in security guard and related services. Spanning Central and Southwestern Ontario, our services are customized to respond to the dynamic and evolving security needs of both private and public sector clients. These include uniformed guard, mobile response and support services, by-law enforcement and identification services.

We are currently seeking a Commissionaire to join our growing team. This posting is for an existing vacancy.

WHAT OUR EXCEPTIONAL COMMISSIONAIRES ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR

• Conduct patrols in military barracks checking for any maintenance issues
• Assist with In and Out processing of military members
• Act as Fire Warden
• Ensure all rooms are "move in" ready
• Complete "March Out" and other site paperwork as directed
• Maintaining high standards of personal appearance and deportment
• Other duties as required by the client

• *MUST* Valid First Aid and CPR certificate
• *MUST* be able to obtain Secret Security Clearance (resident in Canada 10 years or longer, clean record, clean credit history)
• Ability to stand/sit/walk for long periods of time
• Ability to complete frequent patrols
• Ability to speak/read/communicate in English (fluently), ability to speak French is consider an asset
• Able to multi-task and work well with little to no supervision
• Excellent customer service and reception skills

WHAT THE JOB OFFERS YOU

• Rate of Pay: $24.82 per hour
• Working Hours: Monday to Friday 0730 to 1600 hrs; occasional Saturday and Sunday 0730 to 1400 hrs
• Location: CFB Borden
