Job summary

Canadian Forces Morale and Welfare Services (CFMWS) seeks a Sales Associate at CANEX to deliver retail services to CAF members and their families. You will operate POS systems, manage cash, and ensure displays are stocked and properly signed.

The role supports food/beverage orders, maintains cleanliness, and excels in a customer-focused environment within a military community. On-site location in Halifax, NS.

Qualifications

• An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience.
• Food Handling Certification, as required.
• Must possess a Responsible Service of Alcohol certification (Province), as required.

Responsibilities

• Provide retail services to CAF members and the military community.
• Operate Point of Sale systems and maintain a cash float.
• Respond to customer inquiries and ensure shelves are stocked and signed.

THE ROLE

As a Sales Associate, you provide retail services to a unique client base - members of the Canadian Armed Forces (CAF), and in assisting them, you are helping your community. You may provide a variety of services, including regular retail services, dry cleaning, lottery services, self-serve gas services, postal services, and assisting CAF members with credit plan applications. You will operate Point of Sales systems, the debit/credit machine and maintain a float.

The Sales Associate responds to enquiries from customers providing them with information on merchandising and ensuring the store shelves are stocked, faced, and properly signed. You may take and prepare food and beverage orders and prepare takeout food, while ensuring cleanliness of food service and eating areas.

Qualifications Needed

Education, Certifications and Licenses

An acceptable combination of education, training, and experience

Food Handling Certification, as required

Must possess a Responsible Service of Alcohol certification (Province), as required

This is an on-site position with an assigned work location.

This unionized position is open to all interested parties. Preference will be granted in accordance with the Collective Agreement.

CANEX has 35 retail, convenience and grocery stores on Bases, Wings and Units across Canada, two retail stores in Europe, under the NATEX brand, and CANEX.ca. No matter where they’re posted, Canadian military families have access to the goods and services they need.
