Job summary

ProServeIT Corporation in Canada is seeking an IT Operations Intern (Co-op) to support the IT Operations team. The role covers end-user support, Microsoft 365 administration, hardware deployments, and system monitoring in a hands-on learning environment.

You will gain exposure to IT security practices, documentation, and project work while working under experienced IT professionals. This paid co-op provides real-world experience in a fast-paced, collaborative setting.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in an undergraduate program in Information Technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field.
• Have a strong interest in Information Technology and technical support.
• Have basic knowledge of computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications.
• Familiar with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft 365 applications.
• Basic understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, routers, switches, Wi-Fi, and TCP/IP.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Ability to learn new technologies quickly and adapt to changing priorities.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong customer service orientation with a passion for helping others.
• Organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.

Responsibilities

• Provide first-level technical support to internal users for hardware, software, and IT-related issues.
• Assist with responding to and resolving helpdesk tickets while providing excellent customer service.
• Support setup, configuration, testing, and deployment of computers, monitors, printers, mobile devices, and other peripherals.
• Assist with Microsoft 365 administration, including user account management, mailbox support, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
• Perform routine system checks and monitor the health and performance of IT systems and services.
• Assist with inventory management, asset tracking, and hardware lifecycle activities.
• Support user onboarding and offboarding activities, including account creation and access provisioning.
• Help troubleshoot basic networking issues involving internet connectivity, Wi-Fi, VPN, printers, and shared resources.
• Participate in system upgrades, software deployments, migrations, and technology improvement initiatives.
• Assist in creating and maintaining technical documentation, user guides, knowledge base articles, and process documentation.
• Support IT security initiatives by following security procedures and awareness activities.
• Conduct research on emerging technologies and provide recommendations.
• Assist Infrastructure team with special projects and operational initiatives.
