Role Overview

Teck is looking for an experienced Reliability Engineer to join our team at our Trail Operations, one of the world's largest fully integrated zinc and lead smelting and refining complexes. Reporting to the Superintendent, Reliability Engineer, the successful candidate should be eager to create a reliability culture by implementing asset class strategies on our critical assets at Trail Operations.

In the process of implementing class strategies, the successful candidate will work closely with a variety of functional groups, across a variety of plants and on diverse types of assets. Use your strong interpersonal skills to understand the operating context of assets, why they are critical to the operation and how to utilize the class strategies to create fit for purpose maintenance strategies.

This position offers relocation assistance, a compressed workweek with alternating Fridays off and a flexible work policy. Come experience what work life balance is all about!

Key Responsibilities
  • Be a courageous safety leader, adhere to and sponsor safety and environmental rules and procedures
  • Use strong interpersonal skills to understand asset operating context, control logic and maintenance concerns to build fit for purpose maintenance strategies
  • Use change management principles to bring people along the journey of implementation of asset class strategies
  • Select the appropriate combination of preventative maintenance (PM), predictive maintenance (PdM) and Condition Based Maintenance (CBM) to ensure assets are reliable over their life cycle
  • Identify systemic gaps that prevent successful implementation of the asset class strategies at Trail Operations
  • Create, revise, or improve scope and content of maintenance strategy documentation and information
  • Provide quality assurance of maintenance strategies built as part of operational readiness packages for capital projects.
  • Conduct hazard risk assessments (HRAs) or process hazards assessments (PHAs) as part of the Management of Change (MOC) Process
  • Provide guidance to new employees, co-op students, EITs, and plant personnel
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering with a specialization in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • 4+ years of work experience in mining, smelting, refining, or similar heavy industrial facilities
  • Applicants need to be eligible for registration or registered with the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscientists of B.C. ("EGBC") as this will be a condition of employment. Teck will support eligible employees with their EGBC registration
  • Knowledge of reliability principles, methodologies, and technology
  • Familiarity with RCM and risk-based decision making
  • Good organizational, interpersonal and communication skills with a focus on continuous improvement
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office (Advanced Excel)
  • Knowledge and experience with predictive maintenance technologies is an asset

Pay Range

CAD $105,000 - $130,000 per year

The actual amount offered is determined based on the successful candidate's relevant experience, skills, and competencies and considers internal equity.
