Job summary

WeeCare Pediatric Home Health Care is seeking a Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to join our school-based team in Toronto, ON. The role focuses on providing compassionate, family-centered care to pediatric clients within the school environment.

As a licensed RPN, you will administer medications, monitor safety, and support the child and family, while maintaining documentation per CNO standards. Competitive pay and flexible scheduling are offered.

Qualifications

• Must be a licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience working with pediatric clients.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI) required.

Responsibilities

• Provide pediatric nursing care in a school setting according to a care plan.
• Administer and document medications in accordance with CNO standards.
• Monitor and safeguard medications and narcotics.
• Maintain child records and required documentation per CNO standards.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in the child’s condition to family and WeeCare.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support abilities.
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to child and family.
• Respond to concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up.
• Maintain a safe and clean environment for the child and equipment.

Position

Pediatric School Registered Practical Nurse in Toronto, ON.

Schedule

• Monday-Friday, 08:00-16:00

General Duties (specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child’s equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child’s safety, incidents, or accidentsComplete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
• Experience working with pediatric clients
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) completed within the past 6 months
