Job summary

WeeCare in Fergus, ON is seeking a Part-Time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse to support children in school and home settings. The role involves providing comprehensive nursing care, coordinating with families, and maintaining detailed medical records to ensure safety and continuity of care.

The position requires a valid LPN license for Ontario, current BLS, and a Vulnerable Sector Check within the last six months. Flexible scheduling is offered with competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Must be licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO).
• Experience working with pediatric clients.
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Vulnerable Sector Check completed within the past 6 months.
• Professional Liability Insurance (PLI).

Responsibilities

• Provide G/J tube care and management.
• Provide seizure care and management.
• Administer and document medications as prescribed per CNO standards.
• Monitor and safekeep medications and narcotics.
• Maintain child records and required documentation per CNO standards.
• Assist with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living.
• Observe and report changes in the child’s condition to family and WeeCare.
• Assist with ambulation, transfers, and use of adaptive aids.
• Support child in maximizing abilities and provide emotional support.
• Ensure follow-up on concerns and maintain a safe environment.

Position

Part-Time Pediatric Registered Practical Nurse in Fergus, ON.

Schedule

• Thursday & Friday: 06:45–20:30
• Saturday: 07:00-15:00, as needed

General Duties (specific duties may vary based on individual client needs)

• Provide G/GJ tube care and management
• Provide seizure care and management
• Administer and document medications as prescribed, in accordance with CNO medication administration standards
• Monitor and ensure the safekeeping of medications and narcotics
• Maintain the child's records and required documentation in accordance with CNO standards
• Assist the child with personal care, hygiene, and activities of daily living
• Observe and report changes in the child's condition to the parent/guardian and WeeCare
• Assist with ambulation, mobilization, transfers, and use of adaptive aids
• Demonstrate understanding of the child’s needs and support the child in maximizing their abilities
• Provide cognitive, social, emotional, and psychological support to the child and family
• Respond to child and family concerns and ensure appropriate follow-up
• Assist in maintaining a safe and cleanly environment, including the child’s equipment and belongings
• Notify the supervisor of any concerns related to the child’s safety, incidents, or accidents
• Complete other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Licensed and in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario (CNO)
