Job summary

A regional health authority in Nanaimo seeks a Protection Services Officer to enforce security and maintain safety in compliance with established policies. Candidates must have a Grade 12 education, security certifications, and be able to perform duties effectively. Qualifications

Overview

In accordance with the Vision, Purpose, and Values, and strategic direction of Island Health (Vancouver Island Health Authority), patient and staff safety is a priority and a responsibility shared by everyone; the requirement to continuously improve quality and safety is inherent in all aspects of this position.

Reporting to the Team Leader, Protection Services, the Protection Services Officer maintains and enforces security of persons and property in accordance with established policies and procedures.

Travel may be a requirement of this position. If applicable, transportation arrangements must meet the operational requirements of the Vancouver Island Health Authority in accordance with the service assignment and the incumbent must be able to operate a motor vehicle.

Qualifications

Education, Training And Experience

  • Grade 12, successful completion of recognized Basic and Advanced Security Training certification, Intermediate First Aid (formerly OFA Level 2) plus one year of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. Holds a valid B.C. Security Guard License with applicable handcuff endorsement. Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License.
