Overview

The Opportunity:

WSP is currently seeking a Project Manager to join our Rail & Transit team, located in Toronto. Reporting to the Senior Project Manager, you will be responsible for implementing and managing assigned projects from inception, planning, design, and procurement through to completion. The PM controls the delivery of projects for the multi-year capital program in accordance with the client’s budget, scope, schedule and quality assurance requirements. Projects may include policy reviews, research, operational reviews, network planning, transit planning and design, and construction administration. Types of projects may include bus, heavy and light rail, commuter rail or subway infrastructure, new or expanded stations and mobility hubs, operations and maintenance facilities, commuter parking facilities, and other associated transit works.

Responsibilities
  • You will take charge of dynamic, multi-disciplinary teams—including Engineers, Planners, Designers, and Inspectors—to deliver a range of small to large-scale, transformative projects. Guide these teams through every project phase, balancing multiple priorities while driving for excellence.
  • You will shape project scope and schedules with proactive planning and collaborative problem-solving. Develop actionable work plans, secure stakeholder buy-in, and ensure progress by maintaining open, solution-oriented communication with clients.
  • You will keep budgets on track with vigilant oversight, regular reviews, and robust cost control procedures. Provide accurate reporting—from progress updates to financial forecasts and variance analyses—to ensure transparency and alignment across all stakeholders.
  • You will engage and build strong relationships with clients, vendors, regulatory bodies, and the public, fostering trust and clarity. Communicate project milestones and challenges clearly, managing expectations and delivering on commitments.
  • You will monitor performance, analyze results, and report on project metrics with precision. Address change management and risk proactively, establishing contingency plans and taking swift action when needed.
  • You will step into a role where leadership, collaboration, and strategic thinking drive real impact—making every project not just a success, but a standout accomplishment.
Qualifications
  • Accredited university degree in Engineering or a related discipline
  • Licensed with the PEO or OAA (or be elibigle for licensure)
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or eligibility—an asset
  • 10+ years leading multi-disciplinary project teams, driving project planning, risk and cost management, schedules, financial reporting, and performance metrics
  • Proven track record in business development, client relations, budget management, and delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget
  • Exceptional interpersonal, leadership, and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management, elected officials, and the public
  • Thrives in dynamic, matrixed environments—adapting quickly to shifting priorities and navigating complex, politically sensitive situations
  • Skilled negotiator, able to resolve competing interests effectively
  • Valuable experience in the public sector (TTC, Metrolinx, City of Toronto) and/or consulting engineering environments
