Job description
Overview

We’re looking for a Product Manager III to join our Capital team, a key program within Financial Services that has grown 3x in the past couple of years. You will work closely with the Data Science, Risk and Growth functions in building systems and models that are foundational to making capital eligibility decisions. That is, deciding which Lightspeed merchants should be extended funding offers and how much capital should they be offered.

You will be part of a small and nimble Product team and have a unique opportunity to mentor other Product Managers on the team and elevate the craft. Your know-how will also be solicited across Financial Services.

This position requires a blend of technical skills and business acumen as well as an utmost ability to collaborate effectively with multiple internal teams and stakeholders, be productive and adaptable in the face of evolving business priorities, and be able to take responsibility and ownership in coming up with solutions that will balance growth and profitability. If you are a dedicated problem-solver and are ready to play a key part in scaling Lightspeed Capital, then this is the position for you.

For this role, you can be located in Canada (Montreal, Toronto, Ottawa), and able to work within EST/EDT hours. We offer a choice of fully remote, partially remote or fully office-based work environments (in cities with local offices).

What you’ll be doing
  • Product Strategy Development: Define and execute the product strategy for a key area of Capital’s three-year vision.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, data science, risk, and growth to evolve capital eligibility decisions.
  • Roadmap Management: Develop and maintain a product roadmap that aligns with business goals and strategy.
  • Product Requirements: Create detailed Product Requirements Documents for major initiatives to ensure clear scoping, requirements and implementation milestones.
  • Squad Representation: Represent Product within the squad and work with engineering counterparts to organize and prioritize the work, and ensure efficient delivery.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Collaborate with Data Science, Risk, Operations, and Engineering to understand the implications of product decisions and trade-offs in terms of complexity, depth, and timelines.
  • Product Impact Tracking: Define, track, and analyze the impacts of product changes, ensuring that key business metrics are achieved.
What you need to bring
  • A proven track record in product management for complex, data-heavy platforms at scale, with 6–8 years of experience, ideally in B2B SaaS, Fintech, or data transformation.
  • Expertise in leading cross-functional teams, defining product vision, and executing roadmaps in fast-paced, agile environments.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, able to articulate complex concepts to senior leadership, technical teams, and non-technical stakeholders.
  • A collaborative mindset, forging strong relationships, influencing without authority, and aligning teams toward shared goals.
  • Deep knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and delivering high-quality software on time.
  • A data-driven approach to decision-making, with experience setting, measuring, and improving product success metrics.
  • Experience working across multiple squads and time zones.
  • Strong strategic thinking, aligning product vision with company objectives.
  • Ability to mentor and coach other product managers to develop their skills and careers.
  • Effective stakeholder management, working with senior leadership, engineering, and cross-functional teams.
Even better if you have, but not necessary
  • Experience in SMB Lending
  • Retail and eCommerce industry experience
What’s in it for you?
  • Lots of autonomy, flexible work culture and the option of fully remote work
  • Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs every day
  • Opportunity to make a difference; help merchants grow their businesses and become more successful by creating or improving products and addressing customer feedback
  • Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact
  • Development of very high traffic products, used at the global scale
  • Opportunities to learn and expand your skill set
  • Become a valued part of the diverse and inclusive Lightspeed family

… and enjoy a range of benefits that’ll keep you happy, healthy and (not) hungry:

  • Lightspeed equity scheme (we are all owners)
  • Flexible paid time off policy
  • Extended Healthcare benefits
  • Health and wellness benefit of $500 per year
  • Paid leave and assistance for new parents
  • Mental health online platform and counseling & coaching services
