About The Opportunity

The Product Coordinator is responsible for ensuring the Dartmouth General Hospital OR’s have the right supplies when needed. They provide leadership to OR supply inventory management, identify opportunities for standardization, and review budgets and costs to help address our deficit in collaboration with key stakeholders such as nurses, physicians, managers, and the Materials Management Department. Under the direction of the OR Manager, the Product Coordinator manages supplies and equipment for the operating rooms, coordinates and evaluates all new supplies, contributes to business case justifications, identifies standardization opportunities while balancing clinical requirements, and ensures appropriate person‑centred health care. The Product Coordinator directly supervises and manages Supply Technicians in the ORs.

About You
  • Undergraduate degree from a health care profession program or equivalent
  • Registered Nurse with a minimum five years O.R. experience
  • Registration with the College of Registered Nurses of Nova Scotia, or eligible for registration
  • Leadership/management experience an asset
  • Ability to influence others in adapting to change
  • Work cooperatively and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Demonstrates high degrees of independent decision making, self‑direction, motivation, change management knowledge and team‑building/leadership skills including proven communication and time management
  • Strong analytic skills (financial analysis related to purchase of new product)
  • Exhibits creative problem‑solving ability and willingness to consider uncharted or novel ideas related to trends in health care
  • Must understand basic budgeting and fiscal management principles and processes
  • Sound knowledge base of vendor/buyer guidelines and protocols
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Office Suite including Outlook
  • Ability to supervise staff in an unionised environment
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred
  • Successful Applicants are required to provide a criminal record check (including Vulnerable Sector Search) to People Services before starting employment and assume any associated costs as a condition of employment
Hours
  • Long Assignment Full‑Time; 75 Hours Bi‑weekly
  • Approximately 12 months
  • Monday to Friday days, with flexibility for evening and weekend as needed
Compensation And Benefits

$38.36 - $50.97 Hourly. Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long‑term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
