A leading educational institution in Toronto is seeking a Primary Care Registered Nurse. The successful candidate will provide holistic nursing care to students, conduct health assessments, and communicate effectively with healthcare teams. This role requires five years of experience in a primary health setting, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and strong problem-solving skills. This is a 6-month term position requiring some evening hours and possible overtime.

The Primary Care Registered Nurse (RN) is an integral member of the interdisciplinary healthcare team at the University of Toronto Student Health and Wellness Centre.
Under the direction of the Assistant Director of Clinical Operations, the Primary Care RN provides exceptional, holistic, culturally safe nursing care in accordance with established standards, policies and procedures while upholding the University of Toronto Health and Wellness’ Vision, Mission and Strategic Plan.
The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of the nursing process as well as sound critical thinking, problem‑solving and decision‑making abilities. The RN will be skilled at performing physical and mental health assessments on students presenting to Health & Wellness, identify and prioritise concerns, and implement and evaluate a plan of care in collaboration with the inter‑professional team.
The Primary Care RN will perform comprehensive and focused health assessments including past health history, medication reconciliation, physical examination, mental health evaluation; risk screening to determine emergent concerns, or safety risks; collaborate with Primary Care Physicians and other team members; participate in case conferences; lead and participate in health promotion and screening programs; lead drafting and revising medical directives and policies; provide health teaching; maintain clinic operations such as vaccine inventory; perform minor procedures; complete TB testing; work under medical directives; respond to emergency codes; document in accordance with CNO and institutional requirements; assist physicians with follow‑up on lab and imaging reports.
Note: This is a 6‑month term position; regular office hours 8:45 a.m. to 5 p.m.; some evenings to 6 p.m. and occasional overtime as needed. Position may be extended.
