Job summary

Carmens Group is seeking a part-time Events Assistant to help bring weddings, milestones, and celebrations to life at Carmens Event Centre in Hamilton. You will set up and tear down spaces, arrange equipment, and assist with AV and lighting while supporting a fast-paced team.

Ideal candidates have experience in event operations or hospitality, a strong work ethic, and the ability to stay on your feet and move materials throughout the venue.

Qualifications

• Experience in event operations, general labour, or hospitality is an asset.
• Ability to lift, carry, push, and move furniture and equipment.
• Flexible availability for daytime, mornings, evenings and weekends as per event schedules.

Responsibilities

• Set up and tear down event spaces, including moving furniture, décor, staging, and equipment
• Arrange tables, chairs, staging, dance floors, and equipment according to floor plans
• Transport event materials and supplies throughout the venue using carts and dollies
• Assist with audiovisual equipment, extension cords, and basic lighting
• Keep event spaces, storage areas, and back-of-house areas clean and organized
• Break down spaces quickly and efficiently between events
• Follow safe lifting and equipment-handling practices
• Work with the event team to meet setup and teardown timelines

Position Details

Job Type: part-time, permanent

Vacancy: This posting is for an existing vacancy (replacement for a currently unfilled position)

Compensation: $18.00 per hour + gratuities

What You Will Be Doing

• A strong commitment to workplace safety, cleanliness, organization, and presentation
• A team‑oriented attitude and willingness to assist wherever needed
• Flexible availability for daytime and morning shifts during the week is required, as well as evenings and weekends, based on event schedules
