Job summary

University Health Network (UHN) is seeking an experienced Pharmacy Technician for the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre in Toronto. The role involves independent preparation, compounding and dispensing of prescriptions, stock replenishment, and maintaining patient data in the pharmacy system.

The successful candidate will be registered as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) with the Ontario College of Pharmacists, have completed an accredited program, and demonstrate strong communication and teamwork

Qualifications

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program from an accredited college or recognized equivalent.
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.

Responsibilities

• Independently perform all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing as per master worksheets.
• Replenish stock medication supplies for assigned areas.
• Ensure patient information is updated in the pharmacy computer system.
• Complete all required reports and documentation.
• Attend, participate in and assist in staff and patient training/educational functions.
• Perform workload measurement support functions.
• Perform cross-functional and other duties as assigned.

Position Summary

Duties

• Independently performing all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing responsibilities, as per master worksheets
• Replenishing stock medication supplies for assigned areas
• Ensuring patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy computer system
• Completing all required reports and documentation
• Attending, participating and assisting in staff and patient training/educational functions
• Performing workload measurement support functions
• Performing cross-functional and/other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested

Requirements

• Completion of a Pharmacy Technician Program at an accredited college or recognized equivalent required
• Registration as a Pharmacy Technician (Part A) in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• Ability to work under minimal supervision and to manage competing priorities
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills
• Ability to learn and troubleshoot changing technologies/machinery
• Two years practical and related experience preferred
• Previous hospital experience with unit dose system and intravenous admixture service, preferred
