Job summary

University Health Network seeks a Pharmacy Technician Intern at Toronto Western Hospital to assist in inpatient/outpatient operations under supervision. You will participate in compounding, dispensing, inventory, and data entry while maintaining accurate records.

The role requires completion of a two-year Pharmacy Technician program and registration as an intern with the Ontario College of Pharmacists; CAPT membership is a plus.

Qualifications

• Completion of a two-year community college Pharmacy Technician Program or recognized equivalent.
• Registration as an Intern Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists.
• CAPT membership preferred.
• Ability to work variable shifts.
• Standing and walking for several hours, light lifting, and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Perform all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding and dispensing as assigned.
• Replenish stock medication supplies for assigned areas.
• Maintain patient information in the pharmacy information systems.
• Complete required reports and documentation.
• Participate in staff and patient training within scope of practice.
• Assist with pharmacy purchasing, receiving, and inventory counts.

Wage Range:$30.49
Hours: 37.5 Hours per Week
Status: Temporary Full-Time (Up to 12 Months Contract)

Duties:

As an integral member of the Pharmacy Services Inpatient/Outpatient Operations Team, the Pharmacy Technician Internis responsible for:

• Performing all technical aspects of prescription preparation including compounding (as per master worksheets) and dispensing responsibilities, as assigned
• Replenishing stock medication supplies for assigned areas
• Ensuring patient information is updated and maintained in the pharmacy information systems
• Completing all required reports and documentation
• Attending, participating in staff and patient training/educational functions within scope of practice
• Performing workload measurement support functions; performing pharmacy purchasing and/or receiving related activities
• Participation in inventory count and performing cross-functional and/other duties consistent with the job classification, as assigned or requested.
• Pharmacy Technician Interns must always practice under the supervision of a Part A pharmacist or a Part A pharmacy technician

• Completion of a two-year community college Pharmacy Technician Program or recognized equivalent required.
• Registration as an Intern Technician in good standing with the Ontario College of Pharmacists required
• Membership with the Canadian Association of Pharmacy Technicians (CAPT) preferred.
• Ability to work variable shifts.
• Standing and walking for several hours at a time.
• Light lifting of boxes
• Sitting and repetitive hand motions for several hours at a time (e.g. sterile compounding).
• Accurate hand/eye coordination of fine movements (e.g., data entry, preparing/dispensing medications, preparation of IV products).
