Job description

Personal Support Worker - Scotland, ON - CAD$324.00/week

Description

About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a 104-year-old woman who remains active and engaged despite using a wheelchair full-time. She lives at home with her son and daughter-in-law in Scotland, Ontario (near Brantford), where family members are always present to provide support. While her physical health is stable, her cognitive abilities have been declining gradually, and she requires supervision for safety and reassurance throughout the day. She becomes anxious when left alone, so continuous presence and gentle companionship are essential. The family maintains a warm, supportive home environment where she has her own bedroom and receives attentive care from multiple family members.

Responsibilities:

The caregiver will assist with personal care tasks including toileting support, changing diapers, and helping with clothing. Family members handle all transfers to and from the wheelchair and toilet, so the caregiver's role focuses on assistance with hygiene, personal care, and maintaining dignity during bathroom visits. Medication reminders and supervision for safety are required due to cognitive decline. The caregiver should provide companionship, monitor for any safety concerns, and offer gentle redirection as needed. The family handles all meal preparation, laundry, and household tasks, so the focus remains entirely on personal care and supervision.

What We're Looking For:

We need someone who speaks Urdu, Hindi, or Punjabi to communicate effectively and provide comfort. The ideal caregiver is patient, calm, and experienced with seniors who have cognitive decline and mobility limitations. You should be comfortable with personal care tasks including toileting and incontinence care, and able to work respectfully alongside family members who are actively involved in care. This is the family's first experience with professional caregiving, so clear communication, reliability, and a warm, reassuring presence are essential. Experience with wheelchair users and understanding of age-related cognitive changes will help you succeed in this role.

Schedule:

The position requires coverage for 3-4 days per week during a two-week rotation when the family's regular PSW is unavailable. Shifts are typically 6-8 hours during daytime hours. The specific days and times are flexible and will be finalized with the family based on their rotating schedule needs.
