Description

About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for a father living independently on an acreage outside of Shedden, Ontario (approximately 20-25 minutes from south London). He recently returned home from the hospital and is experiencing mobility challenges, including loss of feeling in his right foot which prevents him from driving. This is his first time receiving professional care support. His sons live away and need reliable help to ensure their father's safety and wellbeing at home.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide mobility assistance and transfer support as needed throughout the home
  • Assist with bathing and personal care tasks
  • Prepare light meals, including reheating food and providing mealtime reminders
  • Manage medication reminders to ensure proper adherence
  • Provide supervision for safety and cognitive support
  • Perform light housekeeping and tidying
  • Transport to medical appointments, errands, and grocery shopping
  • Offer companionship and monitor overall wellbeing
  • Communicate regularly with family members about their father's condition and needs

What We're Looking For:

The ideal caregiver is calm, patient, and brings positive energy to each visit. You should be someone who takes initiative when needed while respecting the client's independence and dignity. Experience with post-hospital care and personal care is essential. You must have reliable transportation and be comfortable driving the client to appointments in the London/St. Thomas area. Clear communication with the family is important, as is the ability to work independently in a rural setting. English-speaking required.

Schedule:

This position requires a few visits each week, with each visit lasting 2-3 hours. The schedule is flexible and can be arranged based on mutual availability, but consistency is important. Occasional transportation to medical appointments will be needed, so some flexibility with timing is helpful.
