Job description

Description
About the Client:

We're seeking a compassionate caregiver for an 84-year-old gentleman living at home with his 85-year-old wife. He was diagnosed with Alzheimer's four years ago and has been managing well until recently, when his condition began declining more rapidly. He is non-English speaking and communicates in Persian/Farsi. His daughter lives nearby and is actively involved in his care, visiting multiple times daily. The family currently receives some support from Ontario Health at Home PSW services, but they need consistent, reliable morning care from someone who can communicate effectively with him in his native language.

Responsibilities

The primary focus is morning care routine support, which includes helping him get up, assisting with dressing, managing incontinence care when needed, supporting with showering, teeth brushing, and general hygiene. Light tidying of his personal space may be required. After the morning routine is complete, the caregiver will provide companionship during breakfast, help him transition to the living room, assist with bathroom needs as they arise, and encourage light physical activity such as guided walking around the home for exercise. While his motor skills are affected by Alzheimer's, he remains strong enough to walk with hand-holding and guidance for safety.

What We're Looking For:

We need a caregiver who speaks Persian/Farsi fluently, as this is essential for communication and comfort. Experience with Alzheimer's care, including providing memory prompts and gentle redirection, is important. The ideal caregiver should be skilled in mobility assistance, transfer support, and personal care including bathing. Patience, reliability, and the ability to bring calm, positive energy to the home are highly valued. The family prioritizes finding someone with the right skills and experience who can help maintain consistency in care.

Schedule

Daily visits, 2 hours each morning, 7 days per week. Due to the daily schedule, this will likely be covered by two caregivers working either a 3-4 day split or a 5-2 day split. The family is hoping to start as soon as possible, ideally over the coming weekend or early the following week.
