About The Teaching And Learning Centre Of Innovation

The Teaching and Learning Centre of Innovation (TLCI) at Olds College of Agriculture and Technology serves students, faculty and staff in the following areas: Accessibility Services and Student Academic Support, Learning Commons (including the Library and Service Desk), Educational Development (including program and curriculum support, instructional support, professional development, Work Integrated Learning academic support, and Research and Scholarly Activity), Moodle and Google training and support, The Studio video production services, and the MakerSpace.

The Opportunity – Peer Tutors for 2025/26 Academic Year

We are seeking students to work as peer tutors in the Learning Commons (library) in all subject areas during the 2025-2026 school year. Please note: this position is only available to students currently enrolled in Olds College Programming during the 2025/26 academic year.

Key Job Functions

Responsibilities of the peer tutor include meeting with student(s) to help the students with their learning and understanding of course content and concepts and comprehension. Peer tutoring may occur on a one‑on‑one, or group basis, as required. Additionally, peer tutors are required to complete reporting/data collection regarding tutoring hours. Scheduling is based on student availability and may include day and/or evening hours.

Education/Experience/Skills/Knowledge Required

The successful candidate will have demonstrated mastery in a subject area or course, as well as a recommendation from an instructor. The candidates will report to the Manager, Student Experience and Educational Design, but may also collaborate with the instructor(s) from time‑to‑time. The ideal candidate(s) will be dynamic with strong interpersonal and communication skills, excellent organizational abilities, proficiency in both MS Office and Google suite of apps, as well as the willingness to work as a member of a team. Training is provided. The technology and connectivity to tutor via video conferencing is required for virtual tutoring.
