Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care is seeking a Payroll Systems Coordinator to manage payroll for our Human Relations Team. This permanent role requires meticulous data handling and collaboration with HR and Finance to ensure accurate payroll processing and compliance.

Starting rate is $30.21 per hour, 35 hours weekly. Applicants should have 2–5 years of payroll experience, be familiar with HRIS and payroll systems, and hold a post-secondary credential.

Qualifications

• 2 to 5 years minimum of payroll processing experience.
• Experience working within a Human Resources Information System (Required).
• Experience in using Workday or similar Payroll systems (Preferred).
• Post-secondary Diploma/Degree/Certificate in an applicable field.
• Familiar with the Employee Standards Act.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for the organization.
• Posting payroll uploads into our financial system and entering manual journal entries as needed.
• Receiving and clearing payroll reimbursements WSIB, Employer Health Tax, and Canada Summer Jobs reconciliation.
• Reviewing and verifying timesheets, attendance records, wage changes, and other payroll data.
• Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within payroll systems.
• Administer payroll deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit withholdings.
• Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with HR and Finance teams regarding new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and benefit updates.
• Prepare payroll-related reports and maintain confidential records.
• Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll procedures.
