Job summary

Compass Early Learning and Care is seeking a Payroll Systems Coordinator to administer and process payroll accurately for all employees within the Human Relations Team. The role requires attention to detail, confidentiality, and collaboration with HR and Finance.

You will manage semi-monthly payroll, post uploads, reconcile with audits, and respond to payroll inquiries, with 2–5 years of payroll experience and HRIS/Workday familiarity.

Qualifications

  • 2 to 5 years minimum of payroll processing experience.
  • Experience working within a Human Resources Information System (Required).
  • Experience in using Workday or similar Payroll systems (Preferred).
  • Post-secondary Diploma/Degree/Certificate in an applicable field.
  • Familiar with the Employee Standards Act.
  • Knowledge of payroll practices, wage and hour laws, payroll software systems, and ROE.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Word, SharePoint, and Excel.
  • HRPA or NPI membership valued but not required.
  • Updated and Clear Vulnerable Sector Check.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and process semi-monthly payroll for the organization.
  • Posting payroll uploads into our financial system and entering manual journal entries as needed.
  • Receiving and clearing payroll reimbursements.
  • WSIB, Employer Health Tax, and Canada Summer Jobs reconciliation.
  • Reviewing and verifying timesheets, attendance records, wage changes, and other payroll data.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure data accuracy within payroll systems.
  • Administer payroll deductions, garnishments, taxes, and benefit withholdings.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and assist with audits and compliance requirements.
  • Collaborate with HR and Finance teams regarding new hires, terminations, compensation changes, and benefit updates.
  • Prepare payroll-related reports and maintain confidential records.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding pay, taxes, deductions, and payroll procedures.
