Job summary

Portfolio Payroll - Canada is seeking a Senior Payroll Specialist to join a global organization based in Brampton, delivering accurate payroll across Canada, the United States, and LATAM.

Reporting to the Payroll Manager, you will manage end-to-end payroll for 2,000+ employees, including hourly, salaried, and unionized staff, while ensuring compliance with payroll legislation and timely filings. Collaboration with HR and Finance is essential.

Qualifications

  • 3–5 years of experience processing high-volume payroll in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience managing full-cycle payroll for large employee populations.
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian payroll legislation; US payroll experience required; LATAM exposure is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience with Dayforce, UKG, ADP, or similar enterprise payroll systems.

Responsibilities

  • Process bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls for employees across Canada, the United States, and LATAM.
  • Manage end-to-end payroll processing for a workforce of more than 2,000 employees.
  • Administer payroll for hourly, salaried, and unionized employees, ensuring compliance with company policies and collective agreements.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for complex payroll inquiries, providing guidance and resolving payroll-related issues.
  • Process payroll accurately using Dayforce while ensuring compliance with all applicable Canadian and U.S. payroll legislation.
  • Administer garnishments, levies, and wage attachments in accordance with regulations.
  • Respond to payroll tax notices and resolve payroll tax discrepancies in a timely manner.
  • Interpret and apply payroll legislation, including statutory deductions, remittances, payroll taxes, and year-end reporting requirements.
  • Complete year-end payroll reconciliations and prepare required government filings, including source deductions, WSIB, EHT, and other statutory remittances.
  • Ensure all payroll remittances and government filings are submitted accurately and on schedule.
  • Partner with HR and Finance to maintain payroll data integrity and support reporting and audit requirements.
  • Identify opportunities to streamline payroll processes and implement continuous improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Our client is a global organization headquartered in Brampton and is seeking an experienced Senior Payroll Specialist to join their growing team. This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role in the company's global payroll function, supporting employees across Canada, the United States, and Latin America.

Reporting directly to the Payroll Manager, the successful candidate will be responsible for delivering accurate, compliant, and timely payroll services in a high-volume, fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to resolve complex payroll issues.
  • Ability to prioritize competing deadlines while maintaining confidentiality and accuracy.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work collaboratively across departments as well as independently.
