Job summary

Tendercare Nursing Home Ltd. in Scarborough, ON is seeking a Part-time Personal Support Worker (PSW) to provide direct personal and nursing care to residents in a 204-bed long-term care home.

You will assist with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming, and support residents’ physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs under supervision. Experience in long-term care is preferred, with emphasis on compassionate care, documentation, and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Completed a PSW program or HCA/CCA certification.
• Experience in long-term care or community home care.
• Able to read/write English; Cantonese or Mandarin language skills are an asset.

Responsibilities

• Assists in providing direct care for residents; assists with ambulation, feeding, bathing and grooming.
• Encourages participation in activity programs by assisting residents to and from activities.
• Assists with meal service and nourishment delivery to residents and provides feeding assistance as required.
• Provides emotional and social support to residents/families including palliative care.
• Adheres to departmental policies and procedures regarding documentation, quality assurance, safety, and infection control.
• Communicates with supervisor about unit activities and resident care matters.
