Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is hiring an Educational Assistant for a 50% term (17.5 hours/week, ~12:20pm–3:50pm). The role provides support to students with exceptional needs, including Autism and developmental disabilities, in collaboration with school staff. Experience with assistive tech and crisis intervention is valued.

Qualifications

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or Child and Youth Care / equivalent.
• 1–2 years of related experience with school‑aged students with special needs.
• First Aid certification/CPR Level C is an asset.
• Non‑Violent Crisis Intervention (TCI) and/or Behaviour Management Systems training is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Support students with exceptional needs within the school.
• Collaborate with teaching and other professionals.
• Participate in pool programs and implement special programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
• Modify programs to support learning and manage tasks; assist with yard duties when needed.
