Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board (OCDSB) seeks an Educational Assistant for a 50% term position, 17.5 hours weekly (12:30pm - 4pm). Under the Principal's direction, you will support students with exceptional needs within the school, including ASD and developmental disabilities, and participate in various programs and therapeutic activities.

The successful candidate will have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent, plus 1-2 years of

Qualifications

• Community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent
• Minimum 1-2 years of related experience with school aged special needs children
• First Aid certification/CPR Level C is an asset
• Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems training preferred

Responsibilities

• Assistive support for students with ASD and developmental disabilities
• Participate in pool programs, academic support, and specialized instruction
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students
• Assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches
• Modify programs and support learning for students with learning disabilities/speech-language issues
• Perform yard duties, lifting, toileting, and pool-related tasks
