Job summary

The Ottawa-Carleton District School Board is seeking a part-time Educational Assistant to support students with exceptional needs within a school setting in Ottawa. The role involves flexibly assisting in classroom and pool programs, implementing special programs and collaborating with staff to promote student well-being.

The successful candidate will have a college diploma in Developmental Services Worker or related field, 1–2 years of experience with school-aged students, and may hold First

Qualifications

• The successful candidate will possess a community college diploma in Developmental Services Worker, Child and Youth Care/Worker, or equivalent, and a minimum of 1-2 years of related experience with school aged special needs children.
• 2-4 sentences about First Aid/CPR, and crisis intervention training.
• 3-4 sentences on certificates like Non-Violent Crisis Intervention, TCI, and/or Behaviour Management Systems (BMS) training.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities in the school setting.
• 3-4 sentences on participating in pool programs, academic support, and implementing special programs.
• Support deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with physiotherapy exercises and stretches.
• Maintain confidentiality and collaborate with teaching and other professional staff.
