Job summary

Ottawa-Carleton District School Board seeks a dedicated Educational Assistant for a 50% term, 35 hours per week. Under the Principal’s direction, you will support students with exceptional needs, including those with autism and developmental disabilities, within the school environment.

You will collaborate with teachers and staff, assist with therapies, and participate in pool programs, while handling confidential information with discretion.

Qualifications

• DSW/CYW or equivalent diploma required.
• Autism experience preferred.
• Experience with assistive technology is an asset.
• Knowledge of crisis intervention and behaviour management systems preferred.
• Strong collaboration and problem-solving skills essential.
• Proficient with computers and educational software.

Responsibilities

• Support students with Autism Spectrum Disorder and developmental disabilities in the school setting.
• Participate in pool programs, academic support, and implementation of special programs.
• Provide support to deaf/hard of hearing or visually impaired students; assist with therapies and stretches.
• May modify programs for students with learning disabilities; assist with toileting and pool duties as needed.
