Job summary

An educational institution in Ontario is seeking a Lab Technician to support the safe and efficient operations of OTA clinical labs. Responsibilities include consulting with instructors, maintaining lab safety, and evaluating student progress. Ideal candidates have a minimum two-year diploma in OTA/PTA, three years of clinical experience, and valid CPR/First Aid certification. Strong communication and problem-solving skills are essential. This full-time position requires at least 6 hours on weekdays during the day.

Qualifications

  • Membership in CAOT, or OSOT required.
  • Valid CPR and First Aid certification needed.
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as an OTA.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with the course instructor and attend all preparatory laboratory meetings.
  • Ensure student awareness of course objectives and evaluation techniques.
  • Reinforce and support pre-learned principles.
  • Maintain lab safety, cleanliness, and organization.
  • Evaluate student skills and progress.
  • Report on student achievement to the Course Director.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Chair of the School of Health Sciences and Course Instructor, this position will support the safe and efficient operations of OTA clinical labs. Accountabilities will include on site student support, teaching support, and implementation and maintenance of laboratory procedures.

Responsibilities

Under the direction of the Course Instructor, the Lab Technician is responsible for:

  • Consulting with the course instructor and attending all preparatory laboratory meetings
  • Ensuring student awareness of course objectives, approach, and evaluation techniques
  • Reinforcing, demonstrating, assisting and supporting pre-learned principles and their application to skills and procedures
  • Providing a learning environment that makes effective use of laboratory equipment
  • Supporting and maintaining lab safety, cleanliness and organization
  • Providing observation and evaluating student skills and progress using developed guidelines and criteria
  • Reporting on student progress/achievement to the Course Director
  • Maintaining records of attendance
  • Ensuring an equitable and accessible learning community
Qualifications

  • Minimum two (2) year diploma in OTA/PTA
  • Membership in CAOT, or OSOT

Experience
  • Minimum three (3) years of clinical experience as an OTA
  • RegisteredTs are welcome to apply
  • Previous formal or informal lab technician experience is considered and asset
