Job summary

FYidoctors Calgary - Hillhurst clinic is seeking an Optical Associate for a casual role (0–19 hours per week). You will greet patients, help with eyewear options, and interpret prescriptions from the optometrist.

The role includes frame measurements, billing, and assisting with contact lens fittings, in a fast-paced, patient-first environment. You should bring optical or retail experience, strong communication, and comfort with MS Office.

Qualifications

• Previous optical or retail experience preferred.
• Strong multitasking in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficient with computers and MS Office.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, engage with patients in person, by phone, and via email
• Educate patients on eyewear options tailored to their lifestyle, assisting with frame selection to ensure optimal value, quality, aesthetics, and performance
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist
• Perform frame and facial measurements, ensuring proper fit and positioning of new eyewear, as well as repairs and adjustments
• Coordinate appointments, and prepare prescription printouts
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers and other third parties
• Assist with contact lens fittings and process contact lens orders
• Deliver exceptional customer service, ensuring a positive patient experience
• Support clinic operations by performing additional duties as required
