Job summary

FYidoctors Calgary - Hillhurst is seeking an Optical Associate to join our clinic on a casual basis (0–19 hours per week). You will greet patients, help with frame selection, and interpret prescriptions from the optometrist, ensuring proper fit and exceptional service.

The role involves billing, appointments, and assisting with contact lens fittings, in a fast-paced, collaborative environment. Previous optical or retail experience is a plus, with strong communication and tech skills.

Qualifications

• Experience in optical or retail environment is an asset.
• Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with technology, including MS Office Suite.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients to the clinic, engage in person, by phone, and via email.
• Educate patients on eyewear options and assist with frame selection for value and fit.
• Interpret optical prescriptions provided by the optometrist.
• Take frame and facial measurements and assist with repairs/adjustments.
• Coordinate appointments and prepare prescription printouts.
• Manage billing and payments for patients, insurers, and third parties.
• Assist with contact lens fittings and orders.
• Deliver exceptional customer service for a positive patient experience.
• Support clinic operations with additional duties as required.
