Job description

Primary Location: Remote (work from anywhere). Onsite Location: Saskatchewan (typically Regina, SK, but may include other cities for hearings/tribunals).

Contract Term: 2 Years + up to 3 Option Years - Part-Time (:4 Hrs/Week)

Travel: Required for onsite meetings and legal proceedings in Saskatchewan

Non-Local Candidates: Accepted if licensed in Saskatchewan and able to travel as needed

Ideal Candidate: A licensed Occupational Therapist with a strong clinical background in rehabilitation and modifications, excellent judgment, experience in documentation review, and a willingness to contribute meaningfully to SGI's injury management and claims review processes.

SGI (Saskatchewan Government Insurance) is seeking a qualified Occupational Therapist Consultant to serve as a clinical subject matter expert in injury claims, rehabilitation, and home/vehicle modification evaluations. This part‑time consulting role involves case review, professional guidance, committee participation, and expert testimony on behalf of SGI.

Key Responsibilities
  • File and claims review
  • Assess individual injury claims and provide professional opinions on:
    • Suitability of home/vehicle modifications
    • Adequacy of SGI documentation (guidelines, forms)
    • Future management strategies and referral recommendations
  • HMVRT (Home Modification & Vehicle Review Team) participation
  • Attend bi‑weekly HMVRT meetings (virtually or in‑person)
  • Provide expert verbal and written input on proposed modifications and functional suitability
  • Clinical consulting & advisory
  • Guide external Occupational Therapists and SGI personal injury specialists on rehabilitation and modification practices
  • Submit updated CV upon request
  • Deliver professional insights and recommendations to SGI leadership and teams
  • Research & best practices
  • Advise SGI on new research and emerging best practices in OT, rehabilitation, and injury management
  • Suggest improvements to SGI policies, procedures, and clinical documentation
  • Legal representation & expert testimony
  • Provide evidence or testimony related to documented clinical opinions at:
    • Automobile Injury Appeal Commission
    • King's Bench Court of Saskatchewan
    • Other hearings, tribunals, or legal proceedings
  • Professional liaison
  • Maintain communication between SGI and OT regulatory/professional bodies
  • Represent SGI professionally in matters of mutual concern
Required Qualifications
  • Graduate of a recognized Occupational Therapy program
  • Registered and licensed with the Saskatchewan College of Occupational Therapists (SCOT)
  • In good standing with SCOT
  • Minimum 18 months of clinical rehabilitation experience
  • Available to provide consulting services 4 hours/week (flexible)
  • Willing and able to travel to Saskatchewan for onsite meetings and legal obligations
  • Ability to assess complex rehab cases with independence and professional judgment
