The opportunity:

  • Located in our downtown Vancouver Regional office, this position reports directly to the Vice President, British Columbia Region Leader, Commercial Mortgages and is part of the Canadian Commercial Mortgages team.
  • If you have experience in commercial mortgage administration and loan servicing along with experience in reviewing mortgage or real estate legal documents, we are looking for you to join our team!

What you will do:

  • Liaise with external solicitors, the Sun Life Law Department, the Mortgage Servicing Centre, the Property Insurance & Risk Management Department, underwriters and external parties on new loans, assumptions, renewals, and all administrative matters to close and fund commercial mortgage loan transactions.
  • Review all draft security documents, property insurance, and obtain all necessary reliance letters for third party property reports.
  • Collaborate with branch staff, external legal counsel, and the Mortgage Servicing Centre to ensure the seamless advance of mortgage loan proceeds.
  • Review closing legal document CDs and all mortgage loan security documents for mortgage loan transactions including new loans, renewals and assumptions.
  • Coordinate the execution of all discharge documents upon repayment of mortgage loans.
  • Work with a small team of mortgage professionals, helping to manage a very large commercial mortgage portfolio of term loans.
  • Attend weekly meetings with the Vancouver Mortgage Investment office to review and update the pipeline, including existing loan maturities.
  • Organize and compile our physical and electronic loan folders.
  • Act as the Business Continuity representative for the Canadian Mortgages team.
  • Consistently provide excellent customer service in a timely manner.

Who you are:

  • Experience in commercial mortgage administration and loan servicing
  • Experience in commercial mortgage or real estate legal documents
  • Highly proficient in Word, Outlook and PowerPoint; good knowledge of Excel
  • Demonstrated organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong communication skills (oral and written)
  • Ability to multi-task and manage competing interests
  • Interpersonal skills, energy, enthusiasm and diplomacy
  • Ability to work independently with little direction and with frequent interruptions
  • Team spirit and desire to help others

The Expected Base Pay Range: $45,000 – $65,000. The Base Pay range is for the primary location for which the job is posted. BGO values the contribution of our employees and our compensation structure may vary based on the geographical location of successful candidates, as well as their experience, skills or qualifications. In addition to base pay, eligible BGO employees participate in various incentive compensation plans, based on individual and business performance as well as a broad range of competitive benefits.
