Job summary

Noetiq Edge Consulting, based in Canada, is seeking a Director - Business Development for a full-time permanent position in the maritime and defence sectors.

You will lead identification and pursuit of opportunities across Canada, leveraging an existing network and navigating federal procurement processes. The role requires travel and a hybrid in-office presence in Halifax, with relocation optional for the right candidate.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of business development or sales in maritime, aerospace, defence.
• Established network in Canadian defence/maritime circles.
• Strong knowledge of Canadian federal procurement processes.
• Track record of winning high-value contracts or partnerships.
• Excellent relationship-building, negotiation, and communication skills.
• Eligible for Canadian government security clearance.
• Willingness to travel domestically (and occasionally internationally).

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute a business development strategy across Canadian maritime and defence markets.
• Identify, qualify, and pursue opportunities with federal departments, primes, and commercial partners.
• Build and maintain relationships with industry stakeholders.
• Lead or support proposal development, capture strategy, and bid/no-bid decisions.
• Track procurement pipelines (CanadaBuys, MERX) and policy shifts relevant to defence and maritime spending.
• Represent the company at industry events and conferences.
• Collaborate with technical, program, and executive teams to shape value propositions.
• Provide regular pipeline reporting and forecasting to leadership.
• Work with Customer Support, Product Management, and internal teams to ensure delivery.
• Develop hiring plan for growth of the BD/sales team.
