Job summary

Blackbird Security in Ottawa, ON is hiring Retail Security Guards to establish a visible security presence at various sites. You will deter theft, monitor patrons, and document incidents while maintaining a high level of professionalism and service.

The ideal candidate has a passion for asset protection, strong communication, and the ability to work independently while following site protocols. Training and growth opportunities are offered within a national security company.

Qualifications

• A keen interest in asset protection.
• Willingness to stand for the duration of the shift.
• Previous security experience in a retail environment is preferred.
• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Willingness to attend meetings and improve skills.
• Ability to work without close supervision.
• Must be willing and comfortable to follow site protocol to prevent theft.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifters is an asset.
• Use of Force Certification is an asset.

Responsibilities

• Establish a strong security presence to deter crime and theft.
• Identify, monitor and approach subjects who may have unpaid merchandise.
• Document theft and other security violations.
• Observe the premises, provide access control and respond to emergency situations in an appropriate and timely manner.
• Perform safety and security duties with the highest standards of professionalism and integrity.
• Complete incident reports and required documentation for all security incidents.
• Identify potential security risks and respond accordingly.
• Provide excellent customer service to our clients, customers and patrons.
• Respond to emergencies and escalation to law enforcement agencies as required.

What You Will Do
