Job summary

Blackbird Security in Ottawa, ON is seeking a Loss Prevention Officer to prevent theft and deliver customer service in a retail setting.

Role involves undercover work in plain clothes, patrolling aisles, monitoring CCTV, detaining suspects, escorting trespassers, and documenting security incidents with escalation to police as needed.

Qualifications

• Strong communication skills, both written and spoken.
• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting.
• Previous security experience in a retail environment.

Responsibilities

• Prevent shoplifter theft in a retail environment while providing customer service to clients, patrons and customers.
• Wear plain clothes to work undercover, discreetly blending in with shoppers.
• Patrol store aisles, monitor customers, and watch security camera footage.
• Confront individuals you suspect of theft, who have unpaid merchandise.
• Escort trespassers out of the client premises.
• Perform arrests, detainments, and recover unpaid merchandise
• Complete required documentation for security incidents such as theft and violations.
• Escalate situation to law enforcement as required.
• Respond to emergency situations appropriately in a timely manner.

What you will do

The Ideal Candidate

• A Valid Ontario Security License

• Use of Force certificate preferred/willing to get one

• Experience with arrests and detaining shoplifting

• Previous security experience in a retail environment
