Job summary

Triple M Metal LP is seeking an Oceans Logistics Co-Ordinator to coordinate and optimize integrated logistics operations at our Brampton facility. You will prepare documentation, review plans, and analyze performance metrics to drive efficiency across multiple transport modes including rail, barge, road, and ocean.

The role requires post-secondary education in customs or related fields, 3–5 years of experience, and knowledge of Incoterms, HS classifications and import controls.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in customs, importing/exporting or related experience.
  • CITT, P-Log designation preferred.
  • 3–5 years in a similar logistics role.
  • Knowledge of HS classifications and import compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day integrated logistics operations.
  • Prepare freight negotiations with carriers to secure best rates and service.
  • Coordinate modes of logistics (rail, barge, road, ocean).
  • Prepare customs documentation and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external contractors for seamless operations.
  • Develop reports detailing transportation costs for projects.

The Oceans Logistics Co-Ordinator is responsible for effectively coordinating integrated logistics operations for the organization. Key responsibilities will include preparing initial documentation regarding planning stages, reviewing contract plans and the processing of reports based on their findings. This role will involve collecting and analyzing relevant information regarding performance metrics. Additionally, the coordinator ensures that all activities are well-coordinated and that company resources are used efficiently

Compensation

$55,000.00 - $65,000.00

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate and monitor day-to-day integrated logistics operations:
  • Prepare and execute freight negotiations with carriers to secure optimal rates and services.Monitor freight costs, detention, demurrage, and storage charges, identifying opportunities for cost savings.
  • Coordinate all modes of logistics, including rail, barge, road, and ocean
  • Prepare customs documentations and ensure compliance with customs regulations, import laws, and company policies.
  • Perform administrative duties, such as answering phones and managing filing systems.
  • Liaise with external transportation contractors to ensure seamless operations.
  • Communicate and collaborate with internal departments, including Logistics, Finance, Procurement, Sales, and Operations.
  • Collects and analyzes relevant performance metrics, coordinates activities, and ensures efficient use of company resources:
  • Develop reports that detail transportation costs for specific projects and movements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with carriers, vendors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Conducts material control coordination, and data entry to assist various supply activities.
  • Supports the maintenance of logistics policies, procedures, support plans, and related documentation.
  • Assists in maintaining logistics planning tasks to ensure smooth operations.
  • Reviews and analyzes program effectiveness, suggesting and executing timely improvements and corrective actions.
  • Coordinates property accountability and addresses maintenance issues.
  • Provides advice and recommends pertinent accountability procedures and policies, addressing discrepancies and divergences from regulations.
  • Establishes and maintains optimal inventory levels for consumables.
  • Develop schedules and reports and conduct regular inventories of supplies and property.
  • Administers and implements the inventory management program.
  • Regularly updates work priorities and fulfilling routine tasks assigned by the supervisor.
  • Coordinates with unit managers and co-workers to ensure automated systems are updated and outputs are accurate and current.
Requirements
  • Completion of post-secondary education (College or University Level) in a related field (Customs, Importing/Exporting and/or relevant experience
  • Canadian Institute for Traffic and Transportation (CITT), Professional Logistician (P-Log)
  • 3 to 5 years’ experience in a similar role
  • Knowledge of Incoterms, ocean shipping processes, customs clearance, and international trade documentation; Familiarity with HS Classification and import compliance requirements.
  • Proven ability to organize, prioritize, problem-solve and ensure accuracy (attention to detail).
  • Proven ability to demonstrate good communication skills with a positive attitude.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to details & ability to interact with customers over the phone in high stress situations.
  • Proficient computer skills – MS office applications (esp. MS Excel)
Preferred
  • Experience working with customs brokers and ocean carriers.
  • Knowledge of Free trade agreements and Customs Trade Compliance
  • Customer-focused mindset with the ability to handle urgent logistics issues professionally
  • Knowledge of Integrated Logistics
  • Knowledge or experience with Customs Trade Compliance
  • Written and/or spoken proficiency in Mandarin would be an asset
