Job Title: Data Catalog Specialist
Seeking a Technical Business Analyst with strong knowledge of healthcare insurance data products, data cataloging, and data governance. The ideal candidate will bridge business and technical teams by translating business requirements into technical metadata, lineage, and catalog structures that enable a scalable, governed data ecosystem.
Requirements
- Min 7+ years of IT experience with relevant work experience as a Technical Analyst in healthcare insurance.
- Strong understanding of healthcare insurance data domains (Claims, Member, Provider, Enrollment, Billing/Finance).
- Work Experience with data catalog tools (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica EDC, AWS Glue Data Catalog, or similar).
- Experience with cloud data platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
- Work Experience in data governance frameworks, metadata management, and data lineage concepts.
- Knowledge in SQL and data analysis is preferred.
- Ability to translate business requirements into clear technical requirements.
- Strong communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Exposure to data quality and data stewardship processes is a plus.
Responsibilities
- Partner with business and data teams to understand healthcare insurance data (Member, Claims, Provider, Finance, etc.) and document requirements.
- Translate business definitions, rules, and processes into technical metadata, data lineage, and catalog entries.
- Build and maintain data catalog assets (business glossary, datasets, lineage, classifications, tags).
- Support the implementation of data governance policies, data quality rules, and stewardship workflows.
- Collaborate with data engineering, architecture, and governance teams to ensure proper metadata ingestion and standards compliance.
- Conduct gap analysis on metadata, identify missing attributes, and drive improvements in catalog completeness.
- Facilitate stakeholder workshops to align terminology, ownership, and governance expectations.
- Provide guidance on data discovery and help users effectively navigate the catalog.
