Job summary

AV Group NB Inc. Atholville Mill is recruiting for a 1st Class Power Engineer to lead safe operations and maintenance in the Steam and Recovery area while achieving maximum production and meeting safety, environment, cost and quality objectives.

You will work with the Steam & Recovery team to ensure essential services are available, drive performance, manage budget variances, and coordinate maintenance and improvement projects in alignment with production plans.

Qualifications

• 1st Class Power Engineer license or 2nd Class, willingness to obtain 1st Class or a Mechanical Engineering degree.
• Supervisory experience required.
• Flexible and able to adjust to changing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Ensure steam, power, water, air, cooking acid and other services are available to operating departments.
• Maximize Steam & Recovery performance through effective use of systems and resources.
• Explain variances in department budget and take corrective action as required.
• Identify cost reduction opportunities in the department.
• Ensure accident/incident investigations and follow-ups are performed.
• Coordinate major maintenance activities with the Mechanical Supervisor.
• Align recovery and power operations with production plans with production teams.
• Lead or assist improvement projects.
• Ensure compliance with OH&S legislation, AV Group procedures and guidelines.
• Comply with NB Boiler and Pressure Vessel Act and Regulations.
