Job summary

A leading surveying company in Markham is looking for a Survey Assistant to support the Party Chief in fieldwork. This entry-level position requires outdoor work in various weather conditions and physical strength for carrying equipment. Responsibilities include operating survey equipment, assisting with data preparation, and ensuring adherence to safety protocols. Training will be provided for the right candidate.

Qualifications

  • Strong communication skills essential for team interaction.
  • Good mathematical abilities for measurements and calculations.
  • Experience with land surveying equipment is an asset.
  • Familiarity with Windows applications is beneficial.

Responsibilities

  • Operate survey equipment including levels, Total Stations, and GPS.
  • Assist Land Survey Party Chief with data preparation and calculations.
  • Communicate issues to the Land Survey Party Chief.
  • Inspect and maintain field equipment.
  • Ensure a clean and orderly work environment.
  • Adhere to Health and Safety Policies.

The Survey Assistant is responsible for assisting the Party Chief in successfully completing the field work on assigned jobs in accordance with the industry regulations and J.D. Barnes Limited's procedures and technical standards.

Job Responsibilities
  • Operate survey equipment including levels, Total Stations, Data collectors, GPS etc.
  • Assist the Land Survey Party Chief with data preparation, measurements and calculations
  • Communicate problems, errors, questions and concerns to the Land Survey Party Chief
  • Inspect and maintain field equipment
  • Ensure a clean and orderly work environment
  • Adhere to all Health and Safety Policies and Regulations
  • Other duties as assigned
Qualifications

  • Good mathematical abilities
  • Experience with land surveying and survey equipment is an asset
  • Familiarityworking in windows based applications is an asset
  • Post secondary education in related field (surveying or engineering technology) isan asset, but not required

This job takes place outdoors in varying weather conditions and environments and demands a certain degree of physical strength as you will be carrying equipment (Total Station, Level, Bars and Stakes) from site to site.

This is an entry level role and training will be provided.
