Njoyn is seeking a Labourer II in Fort Saskatchewan to support the Public Works Department's outdoor rinks and snow bank facilities. Responsibilities include ice maintenance, equipment operation, data collection on rink usage, and ensuring facilities are secured per schedules.
The role emphasizes safe work practices, ability to work in varied weather, and adherence to the CUPE Local 30 collective agreement. Varying shifts total 40 hours per week through the season, with competitive wages.
Reporting to the Foreman, Parks Services, the Labourer II position performs a wide variety of work functions within the outdoor rinks and snow bank rinks and other duties within the Public Works Department. The position uses safe work practices and procedures to carry out assigned tasks and contributes to the overall effectiveness of the work team.
The successful candidate must have an Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and a High School Diploma. General knowledge of industry practices used in the areas of snow removal operations and ice making is required. The ability to make practical, fair and objective decisions pertaining to meeting customer needs, and performing facility and equipment operations and maintenance is essential. This is a physically demanding position; incumbents will be required to work in a variety of adverse weather conditions.
This position is within the scope of C.U.P.E. Local 30, and as such, you will be required to adhere to the articles contained within the Collective Agreement. The successful candidate will be required to provide a current Driver’s Abstract at time of interview.
Hours of Work: Varying shifts, working 8 hours per day (40 hours per week)
Duration: November 16, 2026 – March 26, 2027 AND December 14, 2026 – March 26, 2027
